A Sunderland nightclub is transformed into an ephemeral and glittering dream space. For one night only, the community gather for a massive celebration, with food, drink and magical story telling of unsung heroes. From dancing on the tables to sobbing on each-others shoulders – a roller coaster of emotions and memory create a cherished night to remember.
We are going to invite responses from all over the UK and world, to share stories and memories of trees, woodlands and forests. Through interviews and gathering of memories, we will create an immersive binaural soundscape, encouraging creativity in the responses allowing your submissions to seed the final artwork.
“ The trees that are special to us don’t have to be spectacular. The trees that hold meaning for me are humble. There is an apple tree grows on the site of a long disappeared cottage at the sea end of a mining valley in West Cornwall. It has grown gnarled and sprawly, and its apples have shrunk, but the birds flock to it when it’s in fruit. I walk by this tree with my dog nearly every day. It’s endurance inspires me, but the tree also reminds me of my friend Bill, who painted it so many times.
